Going Deeper: church attendance statistics and clergy deployment
Further research into the impact of benefice structure and clergy numbers on church growth
Following on from the publication of Stronger as One, which provided additional statistical research into the impact of benefice structure on numerical growth, we are pleased to be able to circulate a summary note of more comprehensive research into this topic which has also focused on the impact of clergy numbers on numerical growth. Please click here to access the summary note.
The further research was undertaken by the Revd Dr Fiona Tweedie, a Minister and the Mission Statistics coordinator for the Church of Scotland (who has previously taught statistics at the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh). Dr Tweedie used the same methodology to analyse growth as that employed in the core strands of the church growth research programme by Professor David Voas formerly of the University of Essex, and now Head of the Department of Social Science at University College London.
